Ways to Easily Expand Your Employee Benefits in 2023

You may be familiar with the CaliforniaChoice private health insurance exchange. It’s been serving California small businesses since 1996 and is the only program offering coverage from eight leading insurers and health plans. You and your employees can choose from HMO, PPO, EPO, and Health Savings Account-qualified plans.

CaliforniaChoice includes top health plans:

  • Anthem Blue Cross
  • Cigna + Oscar
  • Health Net
  • Kaiser Permanente
  • Sharp Health Plan
  • Sutter Health Care
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Western Health Advantage

What you may not know is that CaliforniaChoice offers an array of optional benefits, too. The program makes it easy for you to expand your 2023 benefits and offer more to your employees.

Dental

There are three Dental options available through CaliforniaChoice:

  • MetLife DHMO: Offers $5.00 office visits and no charges for oral exams, X-rays, and two cleaning per year. Two plans are available: MetLife MET100 and MET185.
  • SmileSaverSM DHMO: Offers office visits, oral exams, X-rays, and two free cleanings per year. Two plans are available: SmileSaver 3000 DHMO and SmileSaver 1000 DHMO.
  • Ameritas PPO: Offers low deductibles that allow members to visit any dental provider they wish, in- or out-of-network.

Plans are available as voluntary coverage with no minimum employee participation.

Dental Rewards® by Ameritas allows members who visit a dentist and use only a portion of their annual maximum benefit to earn added benefits the following year. Based on their selected plan, members can earn money toward their next year’s annual maximum benefit.

Ameritas members enrolled in the PPO 4000 or PPO 5000 plans can take advantage of LASIK and hearing care coverage. Ask your broker for details or visit www.ameritas.com.

Vision

A Vision One Eyecare Discount Program is included in CaliforniaChoice Member Value Suite. It offers frame and lens savings as well as exam discounts.

Two Voluntary Vision options are also available – from EyeMed and VSP. Both offer comprehensive benefits and services, including low-fee exams at in-network providers.

Chiropractic & Acupuncture

Landmark Healthplan offers chiropractic benefits including examinations, adjustments, and X-rays. Two plan options are available, including one with acupuncture.

Life and AD&D

Assurity Life Insurance Company offers Life Insurance coverage ranging from $10,000 to $100,000. The Guaranteed Issue amount available will depend on your group size at your initial enrollment. Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage and a living benefit provision are also included. An option to convert coverage if your employees leave your employment is included as well.

Other Member Perks

Those who enroll in CaliforniaChoice can also take advantage of other valuable benefits offered through the Member Value Suite:

  • Reduced fees for Dental Care services through a network of more than 20,000 Dentegra® Smile Club providers.
  • Savings on hearing tests, hearing aids, batteries, ear protection, swim plugs, and more through the EPIC Hearing Service Plan.
  • The California Rx Card® offers CaliforniaChoice members prescription savings of up to 80%. Using the card could reduce your Rx out-of-pocket costs to less than your health plan copayment.
  • A Cal Perks membership offers savings on theme parks, water parks, sporting events, museums, movies, travel, and much more.
  • The ChooseHealthy® program helps members improve their health with discounts of up to 57% off Fitbit, Garmin, Vitamix, and more. You can also save on fitness center memberships, fitness tracking, and online health classes and articles.
